The Fragrant Spirit of Life....

The clip below is rather sad....look at the girl's face....look at the vigor of her hands....her calmness...her resolve....her acceptance.

My country borders her country...and though she and her siblings be many kilometers away, her story is replicated in many poverty and HIV striken villages in Africa.

Many shun such videos as they portray a negative image of Africa...as i watched..i hoped it wasn't just another journalist making show of our suffering..like the one who took pictures of a young dying girl hounded by vultures...and left her after taking the shots...this clip has a happy ending...

I hope this video will prevail upon you to sponsor/ help those in need around you...there are so many kids in the world in need of your help.

The after the story...visit Sandamiano Foundation

.................................................................................

"Sept 11, ….we’d set this night apart as a group of friends joined together by the love we have for our Lord, to seek His face through a night of prayer…

… 9pm to 12am saw us bond, catch up, cook and dine together…sing and dance and have a great time…celebrating the great friendship that had grown between the 9 of us plus another 4 visitors who blended seamlessly…

When we began praying…I asked God “to take control of the night”….

From the onset, I knew this vigil was different ...there was an envelope of silence around me….a stillness….an acute awareness that God was listening….was present….and in that presence…there wasn’t need for much talking…..

Each member of the group had been assigned a prayer item for which, he/she would lead the rest in prayer….once or twice, I wondered how to approach my topic – salvation for family and friends….then I uttered the same words above…. I asked God “to take control of my session”….

I cried….my session began with tears….I cried for my family, I cried for my friends…I cried for those who had given their lives to Jesus, only to get choked by worldly pleasures and retreat….I cried for Christians who were going through trials…who felt like God had abandoned them…, I cried for Christians who had forgotten God’s heart….His Call…His love for mankind… Christians like me…you….I cried for my sister, my brothers, and my cousins…my friends…these tears were not my own….they were the tears of God’s love for mankind…..

This post is meant for Christians who have committed their life to the cause of Christ….my question is... how often do you pray for those in your circle of influence…for salvation?...how often do you speak about Jesus to those within your sphere of influence?... of what priority, or of what importance is the salvation of the people around you….how often do you think beyond the earthly and about the eternal… how often do you put aside your own prayer needs and pray for those that do not know the Lord...????

Last evening, I listened to a young man speak about a worship concert experience, He explained how God had used their weakness to make Himself known…and I thought, tears have often been used to reference weakness, pain, despair…but in those tears I cried….I felt God’s love for all people…and I felt we as Christians especially those around me had forgotten the call…this was God taking control and bringing me back to the great commission:

"And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

This is what I wrote in my journal when I sought to understand the intensity of my tears…:

“ ..11th Sept…. (precept)…..When God takes over, He has His way. Today He taught me that when He takes over, I lose all control…He takes full control…God deeply loves all people and cries for them….”

This final part is a special tribute to Anderson Muli.

Muli was a colleague of mine, worked as an office assistant. A man who obeyed the great commission. He was a bold and courageous man…He would often preach on the staff bus as we made our way home from work…and his labor bore fruit as some of my colleagues came to God’s knowledge through his sermons. Muli was retrenched in 2007 and a year or so ago…we got the sad news that he had gone to be with the Lord.

RIP Muli, you fulfilled the commission!

Abraham Tested

Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, "Abraham!"

"Here I am," he replied.

Then God said, "Take your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains I will tell you about."

Early the next morning Abraham got up and saddled his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about.  On the third day Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance. He said to his servants, "Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you."

Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac, and he himself carried the fire and the knife.

As the two of them went on together, Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, "Father?"

      "Yes, my son?" Abraham replied.

"The fire and wood are here," Isaac said, "but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?"

Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son."

And the two of them went on together. When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it. He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.  Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son.

But the angel of the LORD called out to him from heaven, "Abraham! Abraham!"

 "Here I am," he replied.

"Do not lay a hand on the boy," he said. "Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son."

Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, "On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided."

The angel of the LORD called to Abraham from heaven a second time and said, "I swear by myself, declares the LORD, that because you have done this and have not withheld your son, your only son,  I will surely bless you and make your descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as the sand on the seashore. Your descendants will take possession of the cities of their enemies, and through your offspring  all nations on earth will be blessed, because you have obeyed me."

Then Abraham returned to his servants, and they set off together for Beersheba. And Abraham stayed in Beersheba.

FireProof...Final Part

(read previous posts.. FireproofFireproof Part 2Fireproof Part 3 then continue below...)

The beneath concludes The Love Dare 40 -Day Devotional...

For days 31 to 40...the dares are as follows....

31. Commit to God and your spouse to make your marriage the top priority over every other human relationship. Gen 2 : 24 ( God takes vows very seriously....)

32. If at all possible, try to initiate sex with your spouse today (in a way that honors them). 1 Corinthians 7:3 ( do i hear an amen...just when you almost concluded there was no fun to these dares :-)

33. Tell your spouse that you desire to include them in your upcoming decisions, and that you need their perspective and counsel. Ecclesiastes 4 : 11 ( include your spouse in your everyday life....)

34. Verbally commend your spouse about a recent time when they demonstrated Christian character in a noticeable way. 1 Corinthians 13: 6 (something like.. "Oh...you were so thoughtful when...." or "your kindness to me when...."etc etc)

35. Find a Christian marriage mentor. Ask God to direct your decisions and discernment. Proverbs 15:22

36. Commit to reading the bible every day. If your spouse is open to it, see if they will commit to reading with you. Psalms 119 : 105 ( its a beautiful thing to grow together in the knowledge of God)

37. Ask your spouse if you can begin praying together. Matthew 18:19 ( for prayer changes things....)

38. Ask yourself what your spouse would want if it was obtainable, then map out a plan for meeting some if not all of their desires. Psalms 37 : 4 ( do unto others what you would like them do unto you - old adage that still holds)

39. Spend time in personal prayer, then write a letter of commitment and resolve to your spouse. Leave it in a place where your mate will find it. I Corinthians 13:8 ( ...most importantly..live the commitment)

and finally....the BIG 40. Write out a renewal of your vows and place them in your home. Ruth 1: 16

I close with a prayer to all who are married and who intend to be married....and for all those friendships that are dear and for our familial relationships:

Psalms 20:
May the LORD answer you when you are in distress (when your relationships are tough); may the name of the God of Jacob protect you and your relationships. May He send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion as you work towards happy relations.May He remember all your sacrifices (prayers) and accept your burnt offerings( your good deeds and thoughts towards each other)...May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the LORD grant all your requests.

Now this I know: The LORD gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of His right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God!

Amen.

Turn your eyes upon Jesus
look full in His wonderful face
and the things of earth will grow strangely dim
in the light of His glory and grace
