Road Forks

Mama - a middle aged lady is travelling to a certain town, she had been given directions to follow a certain road for 2 kilometers upon which she will encounter a fork in the road opening to two different directions - one leads to the town. At the middle of the fork is a house and therein lives two identical twins. One twin always tells the truth, while the other always lies. She rings the bell and one twin opens the door, she is not sure if he is the one that lies or the one that tells the truth, how should she pose her question so as to get the correct direction?

Think about it.....

Life often has road forks,

Isaiah 30:21 The NIV Bible

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."

Let God guide you in the right road, listen.

Dive or Cross?

A young girl boards a bus for the first time unaccompanied by her parents, she travels to visit her grandmother and secures a seat next to the window. One hour into the journey, they encounter a raging river and she is so sure the bus will be swallowed and they will all drown, she contemplates opening the window and jumping into the river.... but tightly closes her eyes as the near the river and after 5 minutes, she slowly opens her eyes and notices the bus is still moving..looks out and under her breath thankfully says,' Someone already put up a bridge for the bus to cross'.

God has put us in a bus called life, the road map has many raging rivers, aka testings and difficult moments that threaten 'the life'.

Thankfully,'HE has put up bridges for 'the bus' aka 'the life' to cross.

Do not dive in, cross.

Nuggets of Wisdom

Its often amazing how when travelling you can be on  a clear road till you take a bend and came face to face with thick fog. I experienced this yesterday morning coming to work....the road was clear up until the round-about leading to the airport and after that, fog! fog! fog!.. thick fog! So thick was the fog that you couldn't see anything 10 meters away..intelligently, all drivers and pedestrians slowed their pace for safety.
In the past few days, i have had the pleasure of meeting two new friends through a chat engine to which i have linked this blog. Its fulfilling to know that the thoughts i express herein, encourage and uplift those who fall by this blog.
Below, i share nuggets of wisdom that they shared with me, which in my opinion is very good food for thought.
Michael says:
.....Today I was reading a book on how to better one’s life and I came across this little writing “If you can’t be a pine on top a hill, be a scrub in the valley - but be the best little scrub by the side of the hill. Be a bush if you can’t be a tree. If you can’t be a highway, then be a trail, if you can’t be the sun then be a star: If it isn’t by size that you win or you fail- then be the best of whatever you are" .
DAVID says:
....."No steam or gas drives anything until it is confined. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined." Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. The door to balanced success opens widest on the hinges of hope and encouragement.

The Lord is a Warrior

On my morning ride to work today, perusing through my little book of prayers, i fell upon a page that had a prayer titled 'The Lord triumphs'. The fifth line struck me like a brick on the head...
it read, ' The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.'
Now, I have envisioned God in many ways, but as a warrior, never. So in the stillness of my mind, i tried to picture the Lord as a warrior.

I imagined that at the start of a new day, being the commander of HIS host of armies and they, the host, all lined up...spic and span, HE would call them to attention and give instructions of all battles lined up for the day....and a thought just hit me as i write this...our guardian angels should make up these hosts...hmmmh, food for thought.

Anyway, i would imagine the instruction list would be to fight the battles of depression, or worry, or despair..or the many other battles that wage fiercely in our hidden hearts.

The LORD is known to fight HIS battles in interesting ways...HE once told Israelites to walk round their enemies fortress and on the seventh round, the fortress would fall and it did!
Another scenario, HE told three hungry men who had leprosy and were on the verge of death to walk into their enemies camp, when they obeyed and started out, HE amplified the sound of their steps so that they sounded like a mighty army, sending their enemies fleeing in fear.

Whenever you sense the upheaval of war in your heart, remember the Lord is a warrior and the battle belongs to the Lord . Let him fight your battle.

HE is an excellent WARRIOR!

How Kamau Met His Wife.

I hopped into a bus yesterday, we were just three passengers, the driver and the bus conductor.
A heavy jam lay ahead of us, so I began to think of the meeting that i was rushing to but these thoughts were quickly interrupted by the excited voice of the bus conductor as he recounted a personal story to the driver....Lets call the conductor, ...Kamau.....

Kamau was involved in a car accident a while back, a speeding driver rummed into him and the next thing he remembered was waking up at MP Shah hospital. His arm feared broken plus other internal injuries, a scan later revealed that most of his injuries were tissue injuries but was confined for a few more days for further observation.

During his stay at hospital, he recounted how the owner of the vehicle constantly visited him and paid for all of his expenses including one month's living expenses for the duration he would have been unable to earn a living as he recuperated.

What warmed my heart is his ecstatic recount of how a certain nurse took good care of him, advising him on medication and how to follow up with the police and insurance, so as to get full compensation. This nurse gave him her phone number and asked him to call her if he ever felt unwell.....and what do you know!!....., a few months later, the unwell call turned to a wedding call and today they are happily married with children.

In laughter, he pointed out that he was unable to secure employment for one year after his accident, faithfully his nurse wife used her earnings to cater for all living expenses for the family and ended by praising God..saying...' a prudent wife comes from the Lord'.

One of the passengers called him and thanked him for sharing his story and asked him never to forget what the Lord had done for him. I did also thank him as i alighted from the bus.
The driver told him, that perhaps ' The accident was God's appointed way of leading him to his wife'...to which Kamu responded that his wife later told him that she had prayed asking God for a man just like him...and he was delivered right at her work place.

Whatever captures your heart from this, trust in God always.

Thankfulness

Today, such a sense of gratitude fills my heart when i recount all the things the Lord has done for the past month or so....
In all these, my mind runs to the words in the bible ...'taste and see that the Lord is good'.
So, my heart rejoices in the LORD, for his gooodness....for surely, it is the season of open heavens....
Whatever, your situation, excel in giving thanks..it is the utmost sacrifice unto God.
