Remember the traffic story a while back, today i was at it again....

i got a ride early this morning from a colleague at work, the car, a small pick - up has capacity to carry three passengers including the driver in the front seat.
We packed two of us including the driver and thought about putting our safety belts on, then waved the idea as quickly as it came.

We were arrested at the first police check for lack of seat belts, i lied to try and get us free but to no avail ....i confess to lying,a bad vice! The policeman threatened to book us in court at 9am, at this, the driver left and after a few minutes, came back having bought us freedom for Kshs.100.

Back in the vehicle, i debated whether i should give the driver Kshs.100 - would seem like a kind thing to do as i was partly the reason for arrest, the opposing voice told me that it was indeed corruption to refund a bribe, a bad vice itself!

i alighted from the vehicle without giving the driver the Kshs.100. Bribery has to stop with someone, and in this incident it was my choice.

Road Forks

Mama - a middle aged lady is travelling to a certain town, she had been given directions to follow a certain road for 2 kilometers upon which she will encounter a fork in the road opening to two different directions - one leads to the town. At the middle of the fork is a house and therein lives two identical twins. One twin always tells the truth, while the other always lies. She rings the bell and one twin opens the door, she is not sure if he is the one that lies or the one that tells the truth, how should she pose her question so as to get the correct direction?

Think about it.....

Life often has road forks,

Isaiah 30:21 The NIV Bible

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."

Let God guide you in the right road, listen.

Dive or Cross?

A young girl boards a bus for the first time unaccompanied by her parents, she travels to visit her grandmother and secures a seat next to the window. One hour into the journey, they encounter a raging river and she is so sure the bus will be swallowed and they will all drown, she contemplates opening the window and jumping into the river.... but tightly closes her eyes as the near the river and after 5 minutes, she slowly opens her eyes and notices the bus is still moving..looks out and under her breath thankfully says,' Someone already put up a bridge for the bus to cross'.

God has put us in a bus called life, the road map has many raging rivers, aka testings and difficult moments that threaten 'the life'.

Thankfully,'HE has put up bridges for 'the bus' aka 'the life' to cross.

Do not dive in, cross.

Nuggets of Wisdom

Its often amazing how when travelling you can be on  a clear road till you take a bend and came face to face with thick fog. I experienced this yesterday morning coming to work....the road was clear up until the round-about leading to the airport and after that, fog! fog! fog!.. thick fog! So thick was the fog that you couldn't see anything 10 meters away..intelligently, all drivers and pedestrians slowed their pace for safety.
In the past few days, i have had the pleasure of meeting two new friends through a chat engine to which i have linked this blog. Its fulfilling to know that the thoughts i express herein, encourage and uplift those who fall by this blog.
Below, i share nuggets of wisdom that they shared with me, which in my opinion is very good food for thought.
Michael says:
.....Today I was reading a book on how to better one’s life and I came across this little writing “If you can’t be a pine on top a hill, be a scrub in the valley - but be the best little scrub by the side of the hill. Be a bush if you can’t be a tree. If you can’t be a highway, then be a trail, if you can’t be the sun then be a star: If it isn’t by size that you win or you fail- then be the best of whatever you are" .
DAVID says:
....."No steam or gas drives anything until it is confined. No life ever grows great until it is focused, dedicated, disciplined." Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. The door to balanced success opens widest on the hinges of hope and encouragement.
Excel in sharing your learnt wisdom.

The Lord is a Warrior

On my morning ride to work today, perusing through my little book of prayers, i fell upon a page that had a prayer titled 'The Lord triumphs'. The fifth line struck me like a brick on the head...
it read, ' The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is his name.'
Now, I have envisioned God in many ways, but as a warrior, never. So in the stillness of my mind, i tried to picture the Lord as a warrior.

I imagined that at the start of a new day, being the commander of HIS host of armies and they, the host, all lined up...spic and span, HE would call them to attention and give instructions of all battles lined up for the day....and a thought just hit me as i write this...our guardian angels should make up these hosts...hmmmh, food for thought.

Anyway, i would imagine the instruction list would be to fight the battles of depression, or worry, or despair..or the many other battles that wage fiercely in our hidden hearts.

The LORD is known to fight HIS battles in interesting ways...HE once told Israelites to walk round their enemies fortress and on the seventh round, the fortress would fall and it did!
Another scenario, HE told three hungry men who had leprosy and were on the verge of death to walk into their enemies camp, when they obeyed and started out, HE amplified the sound of their steps so that they sounded like a mighty army, sending their enemies fleeing in fear.

Whenever you sense the upheaval of war in your heart, remember the Lord is a warrior and the battle belongs to the Lord . Let him fight your battle.

HE is an excellent WARRIOR!

How Kamau Met His Wife.

I hopped into a bus yesterday, we were just three passengers, the driver and the bus conductor.
A heavy jam lay ahead of us, so I began to think of the meeting that i was rushing to but these thoughts were quickly interrupted by the excited voice of the bus conductor as he recounted a personal story to the driver....Lets call the conductor, ...Kamau.....

Kamau was involved in a car accident a while back, a speeding driver rummed into him and the next thing he remembered was waking up at MP Shah hospital. His arm feared broken plus other internal injuries, a scan later revealed that most of his injuries were tissue injuries but was confined for a few more days for further observation.

During his stay at hospital, he recounted how the owner of the vehicle constantly visited him and paid for all of his expenses including one month's living expenses for the duration he would have been unable to earn a living as he recuperated.

What warmed my heart is his ecstatic recount of how a certain nurse took good care of him, advising him on medication and how to follow up with the police and insurance, so as to get full compensation. This nurse gave him her phone number and asked him to call her if he ever felt unwell.....and what do you know!!....., a few months later, the unwell call turned to a wedding call and today they are happily married with children.

In laughter, he pointed out that he was unable to secure employment for one year after his accident, faithfully his nurse wife used her earnings to cater for all living expenses for the family and ended by praising God..saying...' a prudent wife comes from the Lord'.

One of the passengers called him and thanked him for sharing his story and asked him never to forget what the Lord had done for him. I did also thank him as i alighted from the bus.
The driver told him, that perhaps ' The accident was God's appointed way of leading him to his wife' which Kamu responded that his wife later told him that she had prayed asking God for a man just like him...and he was delivered right at her work place.

Whatever captures your heart from this, trust in God always.

Excel in sharing your story.

Today, such a sense of gratitude fills my heart when i recount all the things the Lord has done for the past month or so....
In all these, my mind runs to the words in the bible ...'taste and see that the Lord is good'.
So, my heart rejoices in the LORD, for his gooodness....for surely, it is the season of open heavens....
Whatever, your situation, excel in giving is the utmost sacrifice unto God.

My thoughts today run to the wisdom, that is it befitting for all men to praise the Lord.

Now, all men may have different reasons why they should praise HIM, HIM being God the father, Jesus, his son and also the Holy Spirit.

For me, vast would be the reasons why i would want to praise HIM....but i will choose only one...

I praise you Father, Jesus & Holy Spirit, just because, ....just because you befit praise.

Excel in Praising.

Two Observations.

  1. Constantly seek to be in the will of God in all arenas of your life.
  2. You will never find a miserable Christian in the center of the will of God.
Excel today.

At one point in your life, it is likely that you have listened to a motivational speaker or read a self help book that advocated the importance of establishing boundaries along your life. The material you use to build your boundary or fence and the number of entry points will vary from one person to the next.

I had an interesting scenario over the weekend when one of my friends trespassed my boundaries. I was angry. Then today morning, it occured to me, that trespassers will always be there, we all want peaceful lives where those around us respect our boundaries but we cannot always guarantee that all actions will be favourable to us. A tree is only as strong as its ability to withstand the winds pressure.

There are two kinds of tresspassers, those who, not understanding the importance of your boundaries are thus defiant, these you should be firm with until they respect your boundaries.
Then there are those, who respect your boundaries, but want you to change the landmarks to accomodate more, give an ear to these, weigh their concerns and let the final decision, to move or not to move, lie with you after careful consideration.

Excel today!

Today, i got a ride in a friends car, the seat available had no seat belt and i thought to myself,...i'll get arrested (there are three police checks along the road we were driving). I prayed silently, 'Lord, help me not to be arrested'. The first check, they were not there, the second check, three policemen glared at me, and i held my breath...phew! the car drove on...on the third check, the vehicle was flagged down...and one policeman peered into the driver's seat..and it turned out, he was a friend to my driver friend...

Nice ending..and a lesson learned! see, in my heart, just before the third my prayers, i told the Lord i would have faith in HIM, in that i would not be arrested...that i would be still...but guess what i the policeman looked into the vehicle, i leaned aganist the door of the car, held my bag to my chest, in a bid to draw attention away 'from my lack of a seat belt'.

In a way, my faith flattered...and my prayer is to be 'more still'...but that's how we learn, isn't it? through experience.

May we excel in our faith.

When you are not sure

Peter in the bible is in the deep seas with the other disciples and suddenly they see a man walking on water, 'must be a ghost' !, they exclaim...but Peter, sees otherwise, 'this is extra ordinary..and his thoughts raced to the only one man he knew who did extraordinary acts, and though he be dead, just maybe...and so Peter calls, 'Lord, if that is you, bid me to come' and Jesus responds and says, 'come'. Peter, stepped out of the boat and began to walk towards Jesus...

One thing astonishes me, why did he 'step out to walk' rather than 'dive in to swim'? which would be the natural way to reach someone in the sea! I believe, that the word 'come' was ridden in faith that thrust into Peter enabling him to do the un-natural

There are times in life, in the midst of our deep seas of life troubles, from afar we sense that we should take a certain direction, talk to a certain person, have an impression to give where we lack, and we wonder if its the Lord instructing us, some impressions are down right un-natural in humanly terms

Like Peter, lets call out and ask, Lord, is that you? and Jesus is sure to respond and you will find yourself walking in the extraordinary as you fix your eyes on him.

Is there something you are not sure about? something you cannot seem to see clearly ? Or a voice you cannot quite clearly decipher? the easiest way out is just one question.

'Lord, is that you?'

May you excel today in calling in the midst of uncertainty.

Have you prayed and asked the Lord at the start of a new day 'that HE would help you accomplish your purpose in that day?' and have you like me, been quick/ignorant to end the prayer there?

I relate this to a servant who walks to his master in the morning and tells him of his dedication to do all that the master requires of him that day, while there may be the usual tasks to be done, each day presents a new opportunity to do something out of the ordinary.

So, today, i learnt a new thing, apart from the usual tasks required of me by the Lord, that when i do pray and ask to accomplish HIS will for my life at the start of a new day, that i would in addition ask what 'out of the ordinary' task HE has for me to do, in a sense, sit before HIM with pen and paper and receive instruction for the new day.

This will enable me to follow in HIS thoughts and not mine.

I will excel in this knowledge.

Silence that Voice!

After, a very sucessful weekend, that had its good share of miracles....a sucessful harambee for my cousin and a powerful Aflewo worship practise, i awoke to Monday morning and yes, i hoped that i could sleep more.

After a spiritual battle, its only common and low of the devil to push depressive thoughts...but wah! my spirit could not take it today....the first voice...telling me that i wasn't good enough...bang! my spirit said, i silence you in Jesus Name,...second attempt, the voice...your friends are not good enough and again BANG! my spirit said, i silence you in Jesus further attempt was made.

What voices ring in your ears today? I silence every negative voice in Jesus Name!

Excel today and in the week ahead, all you require is in your hands!

Want Emotional Freedom?

Yesterday, i had a pleasant conversation with a friend. As she poured out her heart to me on how she had asked a man whom she was deeply in love with, to release her from the back and forth that their relationship was, bang! the Lord granted me a word of wisdom....

' No man has the power nor ability to release fellow man from emotional ties, this power and ability rests only in the hands of Jesus, the son of God. The bible says, ' that he whom the Son sets FREE is FREE INDEED!'

Are you looking to be emotionally free? Ask Jesus, his answer is 'Come, and Iwill give you rest'.

What is in your hands today ?, excel in it !

Of Me....

A daughter of God, whose hooked to His love - I love Him back inexpressibly! Summed up in a line; - my purpose is to excel in all God puts in my hands to do that I may have substance to give!. Simple describes me - my mantra - "If plain sense makes sense, I seek no other sense."

Hey There !

Hey There!

This is my "most special" blog page! It’s where I share with you the profound love with which God has loved both you and me…and all else in the world.

Let me give you some facts based on 4 spiritual laws:

God is LOVE
"God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son (Jesus), that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16 NIV).
"I (Jesus) came that they (us) might have life, and might have it abundantly” (John 10:10).

 Man is SINFUL.

"All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).
"The wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23).

We need SALVATION – To save us from death – the penalty of our sins, God redeemed us by sending his Son to die that through His sacrifice, we may be saved.

"God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8).
Jesus: 'I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me'" (John 14:6).
We Must RECEIVE - Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord; accept the sacrifice He made for us. "As many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name" (John 1:12).
"By grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast" (Ephesians 2:8, 9).

[Christ speaking] "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him" (Revelation 3:20).

Receiving Christ involves turning to God through repentance and trusting Christ to come into our lives to forgive our sins and to make us what He wants us to be.

Do you want this for yourself?
To repent and be forgiven of your sins and to commit to a Christ-led life?

Yes….? Great!!! ….

I invite you to pray this prayer right now and Christ will receive you...say ;

"Lord Jesus, Thank you for loving me and dying on the cross for my sins. I accept the sacrifice you made for me and receive You as my Saviour and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. I give you control over my life. I choose to live for you from now on. Grant me the gift of the Holy Spirit to guide me in my walk with you. Amen.

After you have said this prayer, invest in reading the bible and praying regularly to God, look for a Christian church / Christian friends who will be able to walk with you in your new life.

You can email me for further encouragement.
